Having noticed that the usual "yum update" that I perform on my system did little more than call home I finally did some research and found that I am sorely out of date.
The Yum Upgrade FAQ spells out the steps necessary to get your system back on the cutting edge and performing regular updates again. Within an hour or so I am now back up to speed with the latest and greatest Fedora packages.

Following these steps from a Fedora 9 system I had to do it twice to get to 11.
